About

My skills include developmental editing, content editing, line editing, copyediting (excepting specific style formats like APA or MLA—my knowledge is primarily related to the function and usage of grammar), and proofreading. To learn more about what those mean, see the Types of Editing section below.I usually edit with a mix of all of the above elements (comprehensive). However, I also offer developmental editing and copyediting as separate services.I am accustomed to working on short stories, novellas, and novels. Pricing

Comprehensive Editing:Short Stories (about 10,000 words or below):
Base price of $8 per thousand words.Novellas and Novels:
Base price of $12 per thousand words.><><Developmental Editing:Short Stories:
Base price of $3 per thousand words.Novellas and Novels:

If hired solely for copy/line editing, I will be looking at minute details only. If I notice general flaws or believe the content still needs developmental, tonal, or stylistic work, I will let the client know. However, I will not do editing that wasn't paid for.><><
*Prices may be raised or lowered depending on the amount of editing needed. Costs will always be discussed with clients via email before payment and/or service.

Types of Editing

Developmental Editing: Focus on the broad picture of the story—organization, structure, and general flow are taken into consideration.Content Editing: Focus on tone, voice, and content.Line Editing: Focus on detail, word choice, language, and style.Copyediting: Focus on spelling, punctuation, and grammar.Comprehensive Editing: Focus on all of the above elements. Not recommended if large, developmental edits are still needed.

How I Work

To provide an example of how I work, I provide free editing for an approximately 200-500 word sample of writing. This is only availible for new clients, and the amount I edit may change depending upon the commission.The time it takes for me to edit depends entirely upon the type of work I need to do and the amount of editing that must be done.
